★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is one of the most magestical church's I have ever been to. It's stunning in the middle of Graz with a grassy area outside where you can soak up the sun in fine weather.
There was no one there when we visited and with our guide, we made our way up to the tower for the bell to ring. Steep but lots of fun. Students loved it. Some of the students were even allowed to play the large organ which was a highlight of the trip. They also waltzed (which was inappropriate) in the aisle.
This lightfilled, open and gorgeous church is well worth a visit. The stained glass, statues and paintings are exquisite.
Historical info: The largest church in Graz and has the third-highest church tower in Austria, measuring in at 109.6 meters. It was designed in the Neo-Gothic style by architect Georg Hauberrisser, and constructed from 1881 to 1887. The stained glass windows are breathtaking from inside, and admission to the church is free.
Would highly recommend.
