★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What makes this statue is so awesome is the location.the view from this promenade is fantastic, and it's a great little place to stop and have a picnic lunch. There is even a small glass table.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This monument, erected in 1909, commemorates the gallant effort of Major Franz Hackher who, with 17 offices 896 soldiers, held fortress against a French force of over 3000 men. Only after an armistice had been signed did Hackher withdraw with his men.
The statue is an impressive life-size male lion overlooking the beautiful views of the city.
