When we moved to Vienna late in 2019, we needed medical insurance to get our residency visa so we can start our own company in Vienna. After calling generali, we learned that we can purchase that kind of policy from them. We explained our situation to their agent Michaela Paunovic and requested a policy that we could downgrade or cancel in the near future possibly 3-4 months if we needed to do so. She said sure, will give you the policy that you can cancel or downgrade when you want. She even said, I will go and confirm with my boss that we can do that for you, and according to Michaela the answer was yes. 3 months later we found out that she sold us the most expensive policy that we did not need, and we decided to downgrade the policy. That’s when the troubles started. We were calling for a month, about 2-3 times a week to speak with her but she was always unavailable. We were told by their front desk secretary at first that she was on vacation, after that they were telling us she was sick and they didn’t know when she would be back to work. So we decided to go to the branch and look for a solution. When we got there they sent us to speak with Karim Aboulwafa who informed us that Michaela Paunovic is no longer working for Generali. That was shocking but not as shocking when he said that we could not change or cancel our policy for 3 years and that he could not do anything about it. We called countless times and sent emails requesting to speak with Michaela’s boss to fix this problem but nobody in there would tell us who her boss is or let us speak to him/her. During this time going back and forth with them we also learned that Karim Aboulwafa was not telling us the truth either. Michaela Paunovic was working for generali for another month and a half after he told us that she no longer works in there. Unfortunately the only way out of this will be the court. We never had this kind of experience with an insurance company or dealt with dishonesty on this level.
