Really good country restaurant. Excellent food making good use of local ingredients. Very helpful and friendly staff. Beautiful outside terrace with a view. Book in advance as it's very popular.

Made it here on a special occasion: live, traditional music. Good atmosphere, great food.

I am reluctant to share this hidden treasure. Classic old world restaurant, excellent food and service. Sitting under the trees on a sunny day with an oompa band is pure magic. It is set in a beautiful but small medieval village where you park outside and walk a short distance to the restaurant. Book well in advance.

Gasthaus Krenn is probably one of the best places one can visit in Austria if looking for an authentic and honest experience, friendly and personal service, an amazing neighborhood and a beautiful old style country restaurant in Austria - and actually the neighboring countries. Pürgg is almost a museum village, although it is a real life village. The old farm houses including the church are protected and justify a visit. But the highlight of all is Gasthaus Pürgg with the friendly hosts Theresia and Valerie - and if you are lucky, also with their auntie. But its not only those two - or three - each of the team members are equally friendly, warmhearted and create a unique atmosphere. In Austrian we say “wie der Herr so ‘s Gscher” - which is similar to a fish stinks from the head - but in a positive way. Here nothing stinks. Here everything plays together to create a unique experience which one should not miss. The food we ate (i had a gorgeous Blunz’n Gröstl - roasted blood sausage, which was probably the best I had and was especially prepared for me during the afternoon) was beautiful, portions big and left nothing to desire. The Gasthaus Krenn also has rooms and apartments and as well a Greisslerei - a small local shop selling local produce. I will for sure be back, Thank you very much!

Delicious food in a beautiful setting with great service at reasonable prices… what else is there to say?! Totally recommended!

Top cuisine, excellent value for money, Austrian hospitality at it's best

We’ve been here twice during our stay at the Hotel Krenn. Food is good, from the Austrian tradition but with a touch of modern. The first night there was an event so it was a fixed menu where we could just choose fish or meat for the main course. Even if food was good, I personally don’t like this kind of events as you cannot really choose what to eat. But we didn’t want to go somewhere with the car. The second evening we had food à la carte and I have to say that it was delicious. For my dish, I didn’t read correctly the description, so when I requested to have it without the pasta, the final result was average… but this is on me! ? Great experience with a very attentive staff from beginning to end! ✅

Gasthaus KRENN has it all! Cosy and authentic atmosphere, wonderful staff and excellent food. We have been coming to KRENN for many years now and it is our favorite place to eat be it in winter or summer. We go regularly to Steiermark and always make sure we get a reservation at KRENN .
