Single person entertainer "Peter" at the " Frühschoppen" is not worth the trip and dinner is a little expensive.

Probably the most unfriendly hotel owners ever. We knew in advance that we did not book the most high quality hotel. But the unfriendly staff really did us realise that we are not welcome here. One evening we arrived 15min to late for evening dinner because of wether conditions and we didn't receive anything for dinner. We were there with a group of 13 adults so we all went to bed without food. One day we had somebody who was celebrating his birthday and we asked for a birthday candle or cake but it was not possible. The answer was we should go and buy one in town. One afternoon we came in after skiing and because it was to cold and snowing we stopped at the hotel. We were with several other couples and asked if it was possible to play some music in the bar. But they answered us it wasn't possible because we all have smartphones and play music ourselves. This hotel crew never Learned anything anybody hospitality. So they never see our group again

Turns out it's not reachable by car during the winter at all. We called the hotel and they told us they had a shuttle at their disposal for guests. One to get you to the hotel and one to get you back to your car at the end of the week(!). It took the shuttle driver 45mins to find our car, which we described (brand, model, licence plate, colour), and which was parked where all other guests who couldn't get up the mountain were parked as well. He stepped out of his minivan and started yelling in an awful Austrian accent which we could barely understand, turns out he would've liked to have parked in another way, a meter or so to the left. Once that was settled, this guy took all of us up to the hotel. Mumbling about how we were complete idiots. We checked in (let's say: 'not with the expected warmth') and wondered if there was any way to get down the mountain any other way then skiing, since the pistes close at 16h and dinner is at 18h30 (Sharp. But more on this later.). They told us the only other option to get up and down the mountain is to either stay there and skip dinner - which had already been paid for- or to take a cab down and back up the mountain at €45,- one way drive (so €90,- on transport for a night out) which was in no way indicated on their website that this is the only way to get to the hotel. They added that the road is in fact not actually a road at night. It's used for rodeling (sledding), so the road is simply closed overnight. Which means the cab-option isn't even a real option. We kind of felt locked up, we're literally stuck on the mountain for a week. I promised to get back on the dinner question, well. First of all, the food is downright gross. The pasta was completely overcooked and fell apart, the ragoût was really greasy and kind of gross overall. Vegetables were simply sour (or maybe bitter?) and were clearly not supposed to be. Second, they assign you a table where you'll be sitting this week, no discussing which table you'd like. Not even when you're being seated in the draft and another table is empty. The hotel serves dinner at 18h30, if you're late due to the weather or the cab being late, even after an apology, the woman of the house will publicly point people out and loudly criticize their late arrival. I found it extremely embarrassing for those people and enormously inappropriate of her. I'm not sure if they got their meals in the end. The rooms aren't so great either. The "shower" missed a curtain and was built kind of weird, so the bathroom flooded after every shower. The shower head hangs at approx. 1m45, which means you can't stand up in it unless you're a child. Beds are okay, but broken windows seem to be repaired by nailing them shut. If you like breathing and are on holiday with a party of three, you should consider booking a room elsewhere. The cleaning team came knocking on our door at 8 every morning, which was quite an inconvenient time since breakfast starts at 7:15 and pistes open at 9-ish. But okay, we said yes please, so they started when we were still there. They made up the beds, moved some stuff (like pants and t-shirts) and were out again. When we were not there, it was the same room cleaning. No vacuuming, no replacing drinking glasses, toilet paper or towels,.. Wi-Fi is terrible, it's really slow and there's almost no signal. You do have some connection in the bar, but it closes in the evening. Signal is completely lost in the rooms and even the 4G network signal is completely lost there. If we would've known, we would've brought a board game or a book to entertain ourselves a bit at night. Being stuck on a mountain, it would have been a relief to get a decent glass of wine at the bar to relax and have a laugh at all this. But helas.. No luck there either. The wine was very unsatisfying and you'll get a headache before you go to bed at night. Long story short, wouldn't recommend to anyone. Do search a bit further and book yourself a nice Airbnb or something if you're looking for a reasonably priced stay in Sölden.

Great place. A bit aside the main trails, therefore very quiet. Not for someone who needs an easy access to shops. For hikers, this is a dream comes true, as there are quite a few trails around.

Simply, but fine place. Tasty folk foods, tidy and clean rooms, kind staff. And beautiful panorama to the surrounding mountains.
