★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The location is wonderful, the rooms are nice.... but after a long day of wonderful but long walking around Gossau, arriving at a mountain cabin is about a smiling friendly staff and a quick beer.
And this is where it all went wrong: a guy who never even heard of hospitality and service took orders from tables in ‘fawlty towers-style’, slow, making it more difficult and without any humour or friendliness. Getting a beer inside wasn’t an option as we were directed back to Manuel by the just as incompetent guy at the bar.
We took it with a shrug as we were in a excellent mood. He took it a bit to far though to finally talk to us in a normal way but in the second sentence demanded payment for the whole stay (not only the foods and drinks). That’s something that never happens in a Austrian mountain cabin. We then refused to do that and he ran off and refused to talk to us again.
At the gablonzer hutte they should revise their hiring of personnel and everything will work out.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was at Schafberg yesterday and totally disappointed in this area. I even didn‘t want to come back this area. However, this Hütte changed everything. The food is excellent and cheap!! I am totally satisfied today! This is the level that I expect in Austria!! I highly recommend this place!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had a tough but nice walk to the hut it was very foggy so we couldn't enjoy the view as much as we should have. The hut itself is pretty cosy. The sleeping area was pretty cold. There is free WiFi which is a pro.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good, traditional dishes served in an astonishing environment. The hütte is beautiful and the view from the terrace is great. I encourage the staff to appear a bit more smiling, open and friendly.

Great service and very good food. You can hear when they make the wienerschnitzel in the kitchen. Our favourite on these mountains.
