★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I start with the positive things: the service is very friendly and fast, the soup (Frittaten) which my wife had, was excellent. The interior is quite nice, with fisher net and a lot of fish, which goes inline with a real fish restaurant. I started with Calamari, which were served in rings and were really extraordinary bad tasting - no taste at all. As a main dish I had the branzino (sea bass) filet, which was ok, but not more. Too much grease. My wife had an oven potato with vegetables. The potato was very tasty, the rest ok, the sauce was a ready made instant food. The garlic toasts were drowned in oil and not crispy. As a desert I had a Pana Cotta, which was ok. The mango sauce had a lot of alcohol (egg liqueur I think) in it, which was not mentioned in the menu, I didn't like it. Last but not least I have to mention, that the music is extremely nerving (German Lard songs), but this may not true for other guests.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place is odd. It feels a bit like a former basic restaurant that is trying hard to ascend to a higher culinary level. Other than the prices, which they have adjusted prematurely to said higher culinary echelons, the quality of the food still has quite a bit to go. The combinations are just a bit off; the pasta sauce with a grilled trout clashed a bit. The garnish and presentation was good though.
Also, I need to point another relict of the era that the restaurant seems to try to leave behind: the "Stammtisch", or regulars' table, including a bunch of mid-day drunks.
Finally, the music was strange. Atmospheric sounds with a Indian touch - it was slightly eery.
I hope Fischerwirt takes a few more steps towards becoming the avant-garde restaurant they seem to strive towards being, but until then, their prices are too high.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's a small and cozy family owned restaurant.
The reason we chose it was because I was longing for some home-style cooking.
But the surprize was when I managed to get the BEST FISH I EVER HAD. Seriously. I took the Trout and it was fantastic.
My friend had the seafood pasta and she was amazed as well.
We strongly recommend this place. And we'll definitely be coming back.
