Anyone who has already seen the Holy Trinity Column in Vienna, will be a little disappointed, as I noticed spontaneously during the visit no rough differences. The many adjacent restaurants hinder the view with the many umbrellas and similar things. At the moment there is another pillar next to the pillar with all the previous capitals of culture, which advertises that 2024 Sankt Pölten is Europe's cultural capital. Do not spend too much time on the tour, this is just a typical plague pillar as seen in many other cities.

I like the Town Hall Square with its beautiful plague column. Can I still remember how it used to look like here and when it was time to park here? The column is very detailed and always offers a fine photo backdrop, not only for our tourists.

In the center of the square is the snow-white Column of the Holy Trinity (Dreifaltigkeitssäule St. Pölten) - this magnificent work of art, 15 meters high, majestically rises in the middle of the Town Hall Square. The column, erected in the 18th century in honor of the victory over the plague, is one of St. Pelten's most famous attractions. The construction of the structure, located in the heart of the Town Hall Square, lasted 15 years and ended only in 1782. In addition to Andreas Grubber, who became the author of this project, the best masons, painters and sculptors worked on it. The result of their efforts was a magnificent stele made of white marble and decorated with graceful sculptures in the form of sacred images and human figures. At the foot of the Plague Column, whose top is crowned with iridescent rays of divine glory, there is a fountain with a pool, and statues of 4 righteous ones lurk on both sides - Hippolytus, Sebastian, Florian and Leopold. Rumor has it that the restoration of the stele cost the city administration 47 thousand euros. Nearby was an interesting post with city signs and numbers (obviously the year). It turned out to be the city, the cultural capital of the world. And S. Pölten claims this title in 2014 Each year, two cities become centers of cultural life for the whole of Europe.
