★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Im Mittelalter lagen in und um Taxenbach acht Burgen und Ansitze. Sie sind alle längst verschwunden. Ältester Wehrbau dürfte die Edtburg gewesen sein. Ihre Erbauung erfolgte vermutlich bereits im 12. Jahrhundert. Seit der zweiten Hälfte des 13. Jahrhunderts gehörte sie den Herren von Goldegg als Lehensnehmer der Salzburger Erzbischöfe, die hier ihr Landgericht Taxenbach eingerichtet hatten. 1293 wird die Burg erstmals urkundlich erwähnt.
 In the Middle Ages there were eight castles and mansions in and around Taxenbach. They are all long gone. Edtburg is likely to have been the oldest fortification. It was probably built in the 12th century. Since the second half of the 13th century it has belonged to the Lords of Goldegg as a fief of the Salzburg archbishops, who had established their Taxenbach district court here. The castle was first mentioned in a document in 1293.
