Burghotel Alpenglühn

Wir waren wieder mal begeistert vom Service, der Herzlichkeit der Wirtsleute, der familiären Atmosphäre, der guten Küche, der liebevollen Hotelausstattung usw. Dennoch gelingt es Petra, Daniel mit Ihrem Team sich immer noch zu steigern. Super! Dieses Mal waren wir mit Freunden im Hotel, die ebenfalls begeistert waren. Fazit: Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Very clean hotel, friendly staff's and the food is super delicious.

First time I stayed here in 1999. Since when I am trying to come every season to have top level of service and hospitality. The best value for money I believe. Close to slopes, very good restaurant, etc.

Giving it one star for extremely low value for money and unprofessional management. 1. The room and all facility looks like it was from 90th of last century. Cheap materials, cheap furniture, no restroom ventilation etc. 2. Owners seems to be pretty tired of managing the place, do not care to make the place nicer (like adding a pot of tea in sauna area, translating menu for English-speaking guests). Absolute absence of attention to details. 3. When booking the place, got an email giving information that halfboard included “soup and cakes”. No soup was offered during 5 days stay. Amount of cakes was so small, that the kids felt inconvenience taking it, asking “what about other people?” Stopped to come for a snack. Seemed like they offered something because they “had to” but not wanted to do so. 4. Food... the whole place is dilettantish and the food less than average. You can see that the cooks try but no professionalism is there... Like your “ anti’s cooking “. Hugely oversaulted, Leftovers is on the table next evening, no nicely presented... just curious what eat people who leave positive reviews on that kitchen. 5. The worst thing is management. The owners try to be owners, receptionists and waitresses... these all things resulted in failure. If you are not satisfied with dinner service, you just can not indicate it to waiter/owner as she got upset and angry immediately. No smiles or whatsoever... Last dinner our family left the restaurant without dessert as no one offered it to us after taking the dishes away. The owner was standing and looking snobbishly at us at the bar. You may like it if you want to get back into 90th of last century with same ambience and service But be aware that no retro -feeling is there... it is just the the place with the owners who is stuck In 90th, with their poor service, unwilling to except the fact that clients have seen and expect different level of service. The only positive thing is cleaning ladies trying to make this ugly place nicer. All of us were more than happy to leave. The wrong chosen place could easily destroy vacation.

This is a superb hotel. It’s family run, and has been for decades. Daniel and Petra are wonderful hosts. They make the stay extremely personal and provide their advice on the local area. The hotel is around 200 meters to the Hochgurgl gondola and there is a ski rental at the lifts. You can ski back to the door if you wish, but just navigate a bit of off piste to do so. There is a boot room with heated rails and ski racks as expected. You can store your skis and boots at Scheiber sport by the lifts too which is very handy. The food was outstanding at all times with a great breakfast spread, well though out cold starters and salad in the evening and an excellent choice of 3 for the main (including one vegetarian option). They also were extremely accommodating to my request of gluten free dining. The rooms are snug but very comfortable, all with en-suite. The superior rooms have been renovated more recently and offer a little more style. The spa lacks a pool but in every other way is very nice. Sauna, steam room (could do with being hotter), relaxation room, ice grotto are available from 4.30-7.30pm. There are also areas near the reception in which to relax with your friends. The sofas are very comfy and the whole hotel is very quaint in its decoration. They make excellent use of painting the building, in traditional Tyrollean style and there is beautiful pitch pine everywhere inside. Lastly, the ski area of Obergurgl is very quiet which means no waiting at lifts. There are excellent lunch choices and enough runs to satisfy you for a few days. I’d recommend a trip to Solden using the bus (v regular from the gondola) to access more skiing and more difficult skiing too.

Just had a fantastic New Year week at the Burghotel. The team was fantastic, and Daniel was a man of many talents, the food was top notch, the hotel was beautifully furnished, and located ideally for the ski lift. We would certainly come and stay again. Thank you !!

A real home from home hotel. Everything was excellent as it has been on our previous visits. Hotel is perfectly situated close to the gondola. Room, food and service all of exceptional standard. The staff will do all possible to ensure you get the best experience. Will definitely be returning. Thank you Petra and Daniel
