The Crystal VAYA Unique

This is a great hotel the only issue is it is a little out of the main town. Great swimming and rooms, good food in the restaurant. The hotel is ski in and ski out but to ski back from the village you need to take a small drag lift which closes relatively early if you're doing some apres-ski. So you might need to take a taxi back

Too awkwardly built, no symmetry in the design, congested tightly between surrounding buildings, hence ABSOLUTELY NO PRIVACY anywhere in hotel, bedrooms and wellness centre are directly looked into by neighbouring buildings under 10 meters away. The wellness area looks too mechanical, industrial and cold, and does not offer good outlooks, it looks directly onto other unsightly hotels and parking lots! Toiletries are never replaced in the bathroom. Rooms are not aesthetically attractive, terribly bare & cold, not a single wall frame, and no block out curtains so light fills the room from the break of dawn. Appalling, uninformative, inhospitable and unwelcoming service from reception staff Andrea upon check-in & Christian who refused to provide a toothbrush & said I should go out to the convenient store to buy my own! & at check out, was made to wait 25 minutes for my luggage to be brought down!

We will never get bored of getting back in this place! TOP for the service and for the staff! Diana, Alex, Nora and Maria are just 3 of the people in the team that can make your holiday to remember. From the reservation details, food preferences and a special attention to the details, they make a holiday without any worries. You have theamed cocktails parties, an amazing spa with a Panorama Sauna (view on the sloap), Aufguss rituals and many treatments. The view from our room was literally breathtaking! A special compliment for the housekeeping team also! Can’t wait to be back!!

Excellent hotel, very helpful attentive staff, super, spacious room, convenient access to gondola and ski equipment shop. Restaurant was OK but a bit too nouvelle cuisine for our liking (tiny dishes) and kids food was poor although buffet was generally OK. Rooms too hot.

I highly recommend this hotel if you want to enjoy Obergurgl in the greatest way possible. Excellent, attentive staff, great food and a relaxing spa area. It's located in a conveniently placed area and has a great store room for your skis/snowboards etc. The bubble up to the slopes is a very short distance away and you walk straight through a ski rental shop to get to the slopes. Fantastic.

This is the second time I stay at The crystal, this time with a new owner and a total disaster. The good: Spa is amazing, spacious and many saunas to choose from! Rita’s sauna sessions are also fantastic! The hotel is located right on the slopes and you can walk straight to the lift! The breakfast is also amazing, lots of choice. The bad : The resturant is a complete mess, the resturant manager was incredibly anxious, unprofessional and inexperienced. He screams at staff very loudly infront of all guests creating an incredibly tense atmosphere where it’s not enjoyable to be in the restaurant. The manager also walks around to all tables and talks badly about his staff, how bad they are etc - completely shocking and unprofessional - never seen behaviour like this in my whole life. He also sits down at guests tables, drinks champagne with them, super strange. The food compared to previous owners is a disaster, the chef is trying to be more fancy than his skills can do and the result is a weird menu with weird flavours. The staff themselves are really friendly and are doing their best and there is enough staff to care for each table. With the previous owners it was a 100x better experience, now I would never come back. Bad food, no soul, really inexperienced and unprofessional resturant manager leading to a mess of a dining room with no leadership. My suggestion: invest in a great chef, good food, a strong and experienced resturant manager to teach and drive the team and create a positive and calm dining experience.

It is absolutely not the Crystal quality/experience anymore as it was before. More a 3 star experience than the indicated 4star superior. Lot's of items/details can be improved. I have the same experience as some of the other reviews mentioned here.
