Heute sind die spärlichen und stark verfallenen Reste der ehemaligen Burg von der Vegetation überwachsen. Rund 200 Meter unterhalb der Ruinenreste von “Oberperwarth” finden sich die markanten und beeindruckenden Ruinen des einstigen Schlosses “Niederperwarth” knapp oberhalb des Tales der Kleinen Erlauf. Die heutige Ruine ist vor allem an ihrer Südseite immer noch beeindruckend. Leider werden die noch verbliebenen Mauern langsam aber sicher vom Pflanzenwuchs zerstört. Das einstige Schloss wurde ab 1549 erbaut. 1597 plünderten und brandschatzten aufständische Bauern das Schloss und im späten 17. Jahrhundert verödete es zusehens. Auch wenn das Areal und vor allem das Innere der Anlage stark mit Gestrüpp zugewachsen und verwildert ist, sind dennoch die ehemaligen Dimensionen des Schlosses gut erkennbar und faszinierend. Die Ruine ist von der stark befahrenen Straße gut sichtbar und von Pflanzen überwuchert. Das Betreten ist verboten. Extra Stehenbleiben würde ich nicht noch einmal.
