The jewel called " Schlossbräu" is one of the first or to be exact, the first "Brandauers" in Vienna, all three(/four) are very good, and located in exciting places. -The "Gerngross" great view over Vienna and oasis from the hectic of nearby shopping street, the famous Mariahilferstrasse. -The "Bierbogen" a little bit of "sports Bar" feeling in historical garb and Viennese  Beer pub of the year 2009 with live Sport Events on big screens ) As an extra, they are all really INexpensive and especially worth the time spended. Classic rather hearty meat-heavy Bohemian-Austrian cuisine is served with a great selection of beer and of course wine. The allways ;) friendly Staff is almost a bit too jagged on the way but that fits the ambience quite well. The sanitary facilities are always clean and more than adequately dimensioned, gender separated and of course also barrier-free. The "Schlossbräu" is located in the old Biedermeier dance hall of the district Hietzing, The garden is also nice and quiet in summer and Massively popular by native Viennese and tourists and has already won awards. The legendary Gasthaus zum "Weissen Engel" ** was housed in the front part, and the entrance area Now Called "Bierstube", (equals the fourth Brandauers in Vienna kind of a modern styled Pub). After visiting the zoo or Schönbrunn Palace or its park, this is one of the best Places in the surrounding area for something to drink or to fill up the lost calories with a (barely manageable) plate of Brandauers legendary spare ribs. But also for vegetarians there is always something delicious to enjoy. There is a all-you-can lunch buffet (Monday to Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) for only € 10.90, which more or less includes everything for everyone and as much as they like. If you only want to have a drink in the afternoon / evening, but in a sophisticated atmosphere, go directly to the (craft -) "Bierstube" Pub at the entrance (opening times: daily from 5 pm to 2 am) and let yourself be pampered there. Formerly known as “Zum Weissen Engel”**, there are constantly new types of freshly tapped Beer on five lines from the barrel and certainly more than 40 other types to try are served bottled. I know and appreciate the place personally from its first day (believe the opening was in August 2000 on the fifth or sixth) to the present day, spent really nice hours there, must be days in summary, celebrated 10 birthdays (three times my own), attended two weddings and four christenings  and also sealed some business with good food. Our annual company party was also celebrated five times in a row by the choice of our employees here. I tried the entire regular menu, from the pre-ordered whole piglet to the heavy smelly "Pinzgauer Kasspressknödel" to the annual "Martinigans'l" and was always satisfied or more, just really full, positively loaded and mostly pretty drunk :). ** "Zum Weissen Engel" translated to  "White Angel" Famous Johann Strauß and Joseph Lanner performed in this inn on Hietzinger Platz (District center at this time ). The inn "Zum Weissen Engel" was located directly on Hietzinger Platz and, like the adjoining dance hall, has a special local historical significance. Franz Schubert is said to have often been a guest with his friends.  Ferdinand Raimund also often came to the restaurant with his partner. Joseph Lanner gave his first concert in the "Zum Weissen Engel" in Hietzing, later Johann Strauss son and Franz von Suppé also performed. Johann Strauss is said to have even given the son of the inn owner a gold watch.

The food is e excellent. However the service is terrible. The waiter 'Josef' was throwing the plates at us. Wrong orders. The food is lovely, the place too but the service puts the rating down.

Food is alright, but the service is beyond negligent. There are so many good restaurants around that I fail to see any reason to choose this one. Avoid.

Lovely outside seating with a truly ‘Austrian feel’ to it. The portions are large and good. I have never sat inside though - looks a little impersonal.

As usual perfect service and delicious food I celebrated my 1st "new" birthday after a near death experience one year ago to say "Thanks" to my friend who saved my life. Waiter Alex was superb. Brandauer any time again.

The place worths only one star, since it has a beautiful decoration and amazing garden, but the food is not good at all. First, the chicken we ordered was not very well cooked (and that was easy to tell from its taste), the grilled vegetables in that dish were also watery and the veal schnitzel was very stiff and with not successful coating. Service quite friendly. On top of that, my plate was broken at its edge!
