Cramped corridors, limited selection and only two cash registers. This leads to long waiting times during peak hours.

They keep this place running smoothly even with the enormous amount of people going there. Unfortunately they don't have my favorite sun-blocker.

ADDENDUM: Despite the shortcomings of a small, cramped market, I would have defended my 5-star rating, but now that I visited more often, there is one thing that drives me up the wall. Having room only for 2 cashier lines, they installed 4 automatic self-service tellers, which is a great idea, except for the fact that at least half of them, often even 3 of 4 are offline, and I've had mine crash twice. This IS something that could be easily remedied (I use these tellers in other markets where they prove very reliable) so I'm deducting 2 stars until you get a handle on this issue. REVIEW: This is the smallest of BILLA outlets I've run across, which somewhat compromises a few key features for which BILLA is known, as for example large, well-stocked vegetable and fruit sections, as well as a deli counter with a wide range of products. Regrettably, it occupies space in an older, pre-existing building and the market isles snake along a complex path which would have no trouble holding the minotaur. Having said that, they do the best they can in a confined space, especially when dealing with the lunch crowd or with the early evening shoppers. With only two cashier lanes it does get crowded even if four additional self-service tellers help speed things along. Not by any means my favourite BILLA, but many markets in Vienna occupy space in older residential or mixed-use buildings and have to adapt. Generally, I prefer markets in walking distance instead of larger stand-alone shops built specifically for this chain. Outside the beltway there are any number of large markets with ample parking, for those who prefer driving.
