Best location hostel - Lindengasse 4

The price & location is fantastic. However, you get what you pay for. The dorm I stayed in was very basic and not the cleanest, but I've definitely paid more for less. If you're on a tight budget, you wont find better prices. If you have a few euros more to spend & you're after a nice, clean hostel, you'll be disappointed. I was happy enough as I only spent time sleeping there. If you're in Vienna and spending daytime hours chilling in a hostel, you're doing it wrong.

I would absolutely put 0 stars if it was possible. This hostel was absolutely the worst of my life. My friend's room had a locker in it that was completely broken with a sharp metal object sticking out. When my friend went to put her phone down to charge the sharp metal object was sticking out and cut her so badly she ended up needing stitches. When we were checking out we told the woman at the front desk that we wanted her to do something about the broken locker as it is a health hazard and she began yelling at us saying that it was our fault and that she (my friend) should have been more careful with her luggage. She began referring to us as "headaches" and saying that she doesn't understand why she should be responsible for fixing it when we were the ones that broke it, which we did not, it was broken upon arrival. She also seemed to think that my friend wanted money or some other form of refund from her when in reality my friend just wanted the locker to be fixed so that people could safely store their belongings in it, so when she thought my friend wanted money she began going on a rant about how my friend needs insurance and her insurance would cover it. When we said this was not the case and that we just wanted it to be fixed, she said it is not her job or responsibility to have it fixed, and when I asked whose responsibility it was she said the manager, and she then refused to give us the manager's information so we could contact him. This was some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life and no matter how cheap the hostel is to stay in, it is not worth the "headache" that comes along with staying here. Absolutely ridiculous. I also want to mention I have never been angry enough to write a review but this was just insane!!

This hostel started out being questionable with the rude staff! We went inside and decided it was actually okay, was clean enough and the facilities were fine. After talking to some people we heard they had bedbugs, checked our beds and found nothing but woke up the next day absolutely covered in bites along with a few other people from other rooms! Staff did not want anything to do with the issue! Would not recommend or stay again!

I am happy that I didn't read the comments before going. It wasn't all that bad and the location was great. I could borrow a towel for 1€. +4€ deposit which was quite handy. The mattresses were not especially comfortable and the metal construction of the bed wasn't amazing either. The toilets weren't clean ( there was still a stain of vomit) so I would recommend you to clean it more often since this is really important to a lot of customers. The showers were okay and the water was hot. There is a small kitchen and common room. Maybe a couple of extra chairs would be nice. Considering the privacy, it was terrible. After opening the main door you directly enter the first room and you can feel the cold every time somebody opens it. So I would highly recommend the owner to put at least some curtain either on the beds ( at least for the lower beds this is surely very easy to do) or somehow put something between the door and the room. Maybe installing a second door or some curtain as well. But for sure a curtain on the beds would make a huge difference. I am giving it a very generous 3/5 stars.

The guy at reception was super nice and let us check in early which was great. Unfortunately that was the only positive of this hostel. I woke up with 30-40 bites all over my body. The beds are pretty terrible and the comforters were so dirty. I have stayed in dozens of hostels and have never got bitten like this. The entire place is filthy! Also there are notes throughout the hostel. One was super passive aggressive and basically said it's a budget hostel and you have no right to complain. Essentially justifying the terrible conditions of the hostel. I would suggest you stay at a different hostel when in Vienna unless you want to be itching for a week after you leave.

The location of the hostel is really great indeed, even more when you consider the low price. I stayed here the first week after reopening after a long lockdown and it was very quiet but clean. There was only one other person staying and therefore everything was fine. However, I can imagine that when this hostel is fully occupied the facilities are not sufficient at all (2 toilets, 4 showers, 1 mini kitchen, for 9 dorms). Also there are no plugs near the beds and no bedside lights. Communication with the receptionist was difficult but she let me check in without reservation, outside of reception opening hours (limited), let me store my luggage and lent me a padlock for the locker.

Hello! I had a wonderful stay at this hostel! Great location, everything was really clean, good showers and a very helpful and friendly guy at the reception. I’m reading a lot of bad reviews on this hostel from a few years back and I definitely think they have improved, at least according to my own experience! The only thing is that there were no powersockets beside the beds and in the halls/common room there are no windows, so not much air ventilation. Anyways, for a pretty easy traveler like me, I really enjoyed it!

Great place. I really don’t understand the bad reviews? The hostel is clean, has all the facilities you would expect (they already mention they don’t have a traditional kitchen), incredible location, the guy at the desk is helpful, and the whole check-in system is so smooth. It’s got an interesting vibe to it as well. Not to mention the cheap price. After reading the reviews I was expecting something awful, but that was not the case. Highly recommended. Only improvement they could make is a way to get towels, but that’s not typical of all hostels anyway. Don’t let the bad reviews sway you.
