★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A delightful station cafe, with a wonderful host and warm welcome. I’ve visited Mayrhofen and every time I stop here to watch the world go by. They serve GluWine, Beer, Radler an excellent hot chocolate and rolls, as well as selling postcards, sweets, and everything you’d expect at a station kiosk.
The area is idyllic but it’s lovely to just stop a moment mid journey or after a day of outdoor excitement.
The station forms the terminus of the Zillertal railway a narrow gauge 760mm line built over 100 years ago connecting to OBB services at Jenbach 20 miles down the valley.
The cafe which used to be high stools and tables has added some lovely chairs and tables which uniquely create space of thoughtfulness in the incredible beauty of the valley with skiers or hikers going to and from the mountains and trains arriving and departing every 30 minutes or so.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We came here after a 14 hour journey from the Netherlands by train and needed to buy an active card because we couldn't buy it in jenbach so we could free to mayrhofen and buy it there. So we did and the people at jenbach called to the guy from the train so that was a succes. When buying the 12 day active cards for 160€ per person it was expensive but you save so much money with it that it is definitely worth it. You also can get some drinks and a quick snack here after your arrival. Lady behind the desk didn't speak English very well and mainly speak German. So after a bit of hand gestures we still got one but if you have absolutely no idea of the German language I recommend buying the active card in the information point in mayrhofen. Also can buy normal trainticket here.
