★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Oberwaldhutte (2.973 m above sea level) is a wooden Alpeverein hut which is ca 2 hours far away from Franz Kaiser parkplaz. Small via ferrata (I guess deficulity A) is just on the last part of the road.
It was build few years back so everything is new. Cousine is typical austrian for mountain hut - six types of soupes (like from your mother), one warm wish plus desert and soupe for dinner. There is two types of beers on the tap, few soft drinks.
Sleeping rooms are ca for 20 peoples, but you can pay extra for 4 persons room. Could shower is for free and 3 euros is for hot shower.
All you consume is written on your personal carte and it is paid the you leave - only cash.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's a pretty luxurious cabin. It even offers hot showers and a conference with a computer and a beamer for larger groups to have extra classes or talks. The food is great and there is always plenty. The cabin also has a wonderfull view over the glacier and the glocknermassive. And finally the beer is relatively cheap considering it's been flown in by helicopter.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ At almost 3,000m elevation. Great meals (yummy!), clean rooms and washrooms, even hot showers (3€ 2mins). Great for glacier tours and to climb up to Johannisberg (almost 2,500m). Views over ?? Austria’s highest mountain Großlockner. It takes approx. 3hrs walk from the FranzJosef parking at the Großglocknerstraße to the hütte (the toll road costs 37,5€ entry per car ?, then parking is for free at the road, you can enter at one day and leave after several days, not paying anything extra). Can pay by card at the hütte, but it is better to have cash ?
