Absolutely amazing tour, the highlight of my vacation. Michael is a very professional guide, spoke good English (always a concern for American travelers), and he provided extra items for comfort. He loaned some waterproof rainproof pants to me, as we were hiking on a rainy day and he did not want my jeans to soak through. He explained the history of the area and discussed local customs and politics while we hiked. He walked ahead of me on the forest path and even kicked sticks out of my way, so that I would not trip! He even took many photographs with me posing by the castles, and later sent them to me. This was a very personalized trip, and he varied our itinerary because of the weather. The heavy rain would have made some parts of the rocky trail slippery, so we used the time to instead drive to visit a second castle. It was honestly like traveling with a friend instead of a hired tour guide.

I feel incredibly lucky that I discovered Wiener Wandern before my recent trip to Austria. My son and I had the pleasure of enjoying not one, but TWO amazing days with Michael. The ease of working with Michael started at the time of booking, when we considered the best hikes for our interests and ability, and then we discussed our “gear”. He left no stone unturned, so by the time we hit the Austrian Alps, we were fully equipped and prepared for the adventures of the day(s). On day 1, we discovered Hohe Wand (High Wall). The hike was a thrill ride of forest, caves, ladders, and incredible views. It was simply spectacular. Michael kept us on pace, and made sure we didn’t miss any of the hidden treasures along the way (and there were many). On this hike, we experienced rain, snow and strong winds (it WAS late December after all!); and it was fabulous! Thanks to Michael’s attention to detail BEFORE the hike, we were dressed properly. On day 2, we explored Luckerte Wand - another varied hike with woods, caves and stunning views. And it was entirely unlike the hike on day 1. Spectacular in a different way - and again, Michael made sure we didn’t miss any of the special features. I should note: I’m 54 and my son is 15; Michael found ways to keep us both entertained and scintillated the entire day! I could have easily booked another day - I’m sure Michael would have suggested a hike completely unlike the first two. Trust that you’re in good hands.

We did a tour to in the Hohe Wand with Michael. He is a great guide and immediately was able to gauge our skill level and suggest a route that would fit us. In the end it was a great experience with just the right mix of great views and some challenging climbs. P.S.: We are not German speakers and Michael's English was really good.

We recently went on a hiking tour with Michael to "The Two Towers". Michael was fantastic. If I could leave more than 5 stars I would. While I have some hiking experience, my wife and son does not. Michael paced the hike to us even though it is very obvious that his experience out weight ours. Michael is very knowledgeable over the area, and the plants as well. He took his time with us, and gave us a trip that we will never forget. Communication before the trip was outstanding. As soon as we booked the communication stated. He told us what to expect and what we should bring with us. The communication did not end there, the night before he was emailing us telling us what the weather was expected to be and how we should dress. Do not hesitate on booking a hike with Michael, I would book another hike tomorrow if I could. Thank you Michael for the great hike.!

Loved the hike Michael arranged for me! It couldn't be better! I liked the fact that Michael suggested an option for the hike after listening my wish list and considering my hiking abilities. I got everything I wanted and even more! Spending overnight in the hut on the top of the mountain and seeing amazing sunset and beautiful sunrise - that wasn't on my list but thanks to Michael for that wonderful idea! Also it was nice to work with him getting ready for the tour and after. Michael was responding quickly to all my emails, gave me detailed instructions what to have for the hike, was making pictures during the hike using his camera and sent them to me after. My flight got delayed and I arrived much later, so he picked me up straight from the airport and we got back into the schedule. Hike itself was going through gorgeous places and I'm very happy with Michael's suggestion on that. I would highly recommend take Wiener Wandern tour and you can expect a professional service. I had a truly amazing time in Austrian Alps!

Our hiking trip with Michael was truly the highlight of our trip to Vienna! Michael was incredibly friendly and professional, and he went above and beyond to make a day hiking a great one. He chose the hike based on our timeline, and he chose perfectly! We really enjoyed exploring a castle and ruins that I'm sure we wouldn't have been able to find on our own.
