Just wanted to buy a hiking map, the nice woman behind the counter made me wait 10 minutes because she couldn't interrupt a private conversation.

There is plenty of information on hikes (including maps), events, and small folding maps for all mountain railways, which you can use free of charge with the Bregenz Forest Guest Card.
