The distances are very long. It takes quite a long walk to get to the S-Bahn platforms. There are only 3 escalators and a few elevators, so it can get fairly crowded during the rush hours. Ticket and information services are available.

Finally Vienna got the Central main station and it's spacy the only thing to criticize is that with so many foreigners arriving here there should be more emphasis on English signs so the information services are always busy and waiting times there can be bothering when you are in a hurry (As the focuss is on German ) But generally now you can reach destinations in all directions and it's easy to use the elevators or stairs and seldom there are crowds when reaching the right platforms In wintertime the platforms though need to have more wind shelter for waiting train arrivals But generally it's one of the best stations in Europe

Mr. Vadim Gruzdev, you may have missunderstood the intention of the "refugee free zone"-wifi access point. i'm totally with you regarding the problem with drunken (not so much with homeless) people. after all that's more than a small issue. there are far too little security people around to deal with all the potentially dangerous situations but I presume they do their best. But otherwise, you are mistaken. There was a big wave of refugees coming to Austria in 2015. Many of them had to spend the nights at the big railway stations of the country (the Vienna western station, the main station, the big supranational stations...). to provide at least the smallest of comforts for the people, this particular wifi access point was installed. normally you need a key to gain access to any wifi point. to bypass this barrier the refugee internet was installed - only for refugees as you may presume. as for my own experience with the Vienna Main Station - I miss my good old Western Station ... don't get me wrong. The Main station ist far better suited to deal with the mass of people entering and leaving the area on a daily basis but from my point of view it is way to gray and dark and impersonal.

Maybe it looks good and organized, but it was the worst place we have been to in the entire eurotrip we made through Eastern and Central Europe. So, it happened that we had to stay the night at the bus station (due to another worst experience of Vienna's Hostel / 7 Hostel). First thing, there were a lot of homeless and drunk people at the station, they were drinking, fighting around - it was a disgusting thing. Security did not have enough idea to ask them not to drink. This was not the ugliest thing, this was the thing of bus station to leave the entrence doors opened from the both sides of terminal, so it created at night cold stream of wind insight of the building. I asked some workers to close the door, they said it was impossible, then I asked for a manager, they said there were no one but security and workers. I assume in this way they try to fight the need of poor people to stay in the station by freezing them, which is completely immoral. Because there are also custumers of your service, who paid money. We were freezing all 5th of September night without any warm clothes waiting for our bus to Croatia. Another ugliest thing was the bus terminal's Wi-Fi Name, it sounded like "refugee free-zone". This was the terminal's main wifi name, because all the shops were closed at night there, that was the only one. How can the Administration of Main Bus Station put such a racistic and phenophobic name for Wi-Fi? Whats wrong with you Austria? If you don't want drunk people in the bus station, call police and take them to the office, explain them the rules, departure them, do anything but not freezing them and giving internet with "Refugee Free Zone". Security had also a big pleasure at 4:00 in the morning to come to us, wake us up - just to let a guy moop the floor. Seriously?! By the end of my wait, I have got completely disgusted by Austria hospitality. "A book with rich and beautiful cover, but cold, cheap and inhumane content." That's a shame for a nation, because your airports, terminals, bus/train stations are the first and last impressions of a country. And I ended up with a terrible disgust by this farewell. I hope it will reach one day the administration of bus station or authority of a democratic and liberal country of Austria.

A very modern and clean train station. In case you want to eat here, there is a great selection of restaurants offering various types of food. In case you need to buy something, there are plenty shops for that. The trains seem to be arriving and departing on time. It is connected to the U1 metro (U-bahn) line.
