Like many of the city squares, gardens an parks, winter visits come with limitations at Karlsplatz. The main fountain is emptied and not operational. The trees without foliage and no flowers to add colour to the scene at Karlsplatz. The cold can make it less enjoyable spending time outside during the winter months. What can still enjoyed during winter visits is the large and impressive Karlskirche. Similarly, the Otto Wagner Pavilion buildings are worth a few minutes to enjoy if you want to see fine examples of Vienna Secession architecture here at Karlsplatz. Beyond that, take some time to see the various monuments scattered around the square.
