â â â â â Normalerweise sind Stadtmuseums in StĂ€dten in der GröĂenordnung von Bad Ischl (13.000 Einwohner) eher etwas kleiner und vielleicht auch nicht so besonders interessant.
Hier wird man aber positiv ĂŒberrascht, auf 3 Stockwerken wird in eindrucksvoller Weise die Entwicklung der Stadt Bad Ischl, besonders die Bedeutung der Salzgewinnung und der Aufstieg des Ortes zum Kurbad und zur kaiserlichen Sommerresidenz gezeigt.
Auch die Jahrhundert alten BrauchtĂŒmer des Salzkammergutes wie der Glöcklerlauf oder Schwerttanz kommen nicht zu kurz.
Im historischen GebÀude (ehemaligen Erbhaus der Salzfertigerfamilie Seeauer, spÀteren Hotel Austria und seit 1982 im Besitz der Stadt Bad Ischl) haben sich der junge Kaiser Franz Joseph und Prinzessin Elisabeth von Bayern am 18.8.1853 verlobt.

Here you will be pleasantly surprised, on 3 floors the development of the city of Bad Ischl, especially the importance of salt production and the rise of the place to a spa and an imperial summer residence, is shown in an impressive way.
The centuries-old customs of the Salzkammergut such as the Glöcklerlauf or sword dance are not neglected either.
The young Emperor Franz Joseph and Princess Elisabeth of Bavaria got engaged on August 18, 1853 in the historic building (former hereditary house of the Seeauer family, later Hotel Austria and owned by the city of Bad Ischl since 1982).
