★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Clean comfortable rooms, nice coffee and a reasonable selection of breakfast items. My room included a desk and armchair as well a safe for valuables. The hotel has retained some of its historic features in places but has a bright modern feel throughout. It is located in a pretty area of the town, not far from the main square.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Really lovely hotel with helpful staff in a wonderful town. The continental breakfast is fantastic but there isn't enough space to sit so get in early or you'll be standing around waiting. It gets very hot on the top floor in summer and the rooms get very stuffy, a fan in each room would go a long way.

After making the reservation one week before arriving and during a 3.5hr.driving trip to the hotel I received a request from them (they did not explain the reason) to call the hotel before arrive. I did it. No answer. Then when I arrived I rang the bell in several occasions. No answer. Then I called again several times. No answer. Upset and frozen after waiting in the street for 15 min. I decided to cancel the reservation. I called the hotel Forstinger around the corner, and the problem was resolved, but the bitterness with this Stadhotel Schärding will remain for long time.
