Venkovní prostory s památníky jsou velice klidnými, pietními místy. Díky nim samotné prostory Mauthausenu nepůsobí tak depresivně, jako například v Osvětimi. Na druhou stranu není možné zapomenout na události a činy, které se zde v minulosti udály. V prostorách muzea se můžete seznámit s děním v tomto koncentračním táboře. Nachází se zde dobové fotografie ze stavby tohoto místa, ale i z doby nejvyšší vytíženosti. Rovněž se zde nachází mnoho dobových předmětů včetně popisků.
