Went in to ask for more info about the guided tour, woman on the desk was rude, unhelpful and had a bad attitude. Probably shouldn't be working in hospitality. I'll spend my money elsewhere.

Within the Hofburg is a school for white horses, teaching them to dance ballet. It’s located on the St Michael’s Wing of the Hofburg, where this giant arch is located. This tradition has been carried on for more than 4 centuries and It’s called the Spanish Riding School because the breed of horses used in the performances is Spanish in origin and it’s the only breed of horses used at the school. Take a tour of the stables and watch the morning training session if you don’t have time. Otherwise there’s tickets to the actual performance. The Spanish Riding School’s performances is such a cultural interest that it’s even been named an intangible heritage by UNESCO.

Thi was a must visit as my wife dreamed of visiting ever since she was a little girl and read Marguerite Henry's book about the Lipizzaners and the Spanish Riding School. Even if you are not horse-mad you will still appreciate the talent and training of the riders and horses of the SRS, so make sure to watch a performance of these iconic horses. The riding hall is beautiful and has great history and the traditions of the school are followed closely by their trainers, riders and staff. The shop has many goodies for everyone, and the Cafe also has some tasty treats. We were lucky to watch the performance from the "Royal Box" which added to the overall experience. Enjoy watching the morning training, and take in a stable tour where you will get to appreciate further the care and consideration given to these magnificent stallions.

Included as part of the Vienna Pass. I probably wouldn't spend the 13euro for the training session. Limited seating wit, no explanation of what is going on during the warm ups. The morning practices consist of training for the horses and the riders, which is interesting to watch but nothing mind blowing. One enjoys the absurdity of having an indoor riding ring that is lavishly decorated at the palace. Morning sessions last for two hours and you can stay for as long as you would like.

The training session is nice to watch but don’t be expecting a huge spectacular performance as it merely a gentle workout with the horses and riders mostly practicing their skills with an instructor standing on the ground. The announcer gives several interesting overviews and some history about the school which is a good addition to the show. They perform 4 sessions with 5 horses in each. The riding is smooth, gentle-paced routines, lots of half-pass, counter-canter, flying changes, passages, as well as warm-up/cool-down. No photo policy, but they don’t seem to police it hard as seen by the posts here!

Quite disappointing level of dressage for those who understand. Definitely not impressive enough for a 109€ ticket. Taking photos during the show is strictly prohibited

The building is extremely beautiful but if you go to visit the training know that it is just a Training so you can't expect any crazy tricks/skills/choreography . Otherwise these were the most beautiful horses I've ever seen?
