★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Sehr gutes Essen, sehr gutes Service. Sehr gute Weinkarte. Bummvoll. Die Tische sind etwas klein und eng nebeneinander aufgestellt. Geschmacksache!
 Very good food, very good service. Very good wine list. boomy. The tables are a bit small and placed close together. matter of taste!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ausgezeichneter Service und Essen. Wir waren Mittags dort und hatten ein ausgezeichnetes 4 Gänge Mittags Menü. Schöne Lage um nachher ein bisschen shoppen zu gehen. Wir besuchten nachher noch den Grazer Uhrturm und das Schloss, welches nur 10 Gehminuten entfernt war. freu mich schon aufs nächste mal. Guten Rutsch!
Excellent service and food. We were there for lunch and had an excellent 4 course lunch menu. Nice location to go shopping afterwards. Afterwards we visited the Graz clock tower and the castle, which was only a 10-minute walk away. Looking forward to next time. Happy New Year!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Short version: As there are no real fine dining options in Graz, Schmidhofer is probably the best restaurant in this city at the moment (if we forget about D. Dorner as I would not consider that a regular restaurant (that would be the fine dining option)).
WIthout going too much into detail, the lunch menu recently got cut down to just a few items (not good), but usually the "Mittagsmenü" is a very good choice.
As for dinner: In general I would say the strong points are the starters, the soups and the wine. Nice cheese selection for Graz. The main courses could be refinded.
All in all recommended. If Michelin would cover Styria, I guess they would not give them a star. If Schmidhofer would offer a set menu (which they do only on special occasions) and refine/improve their mains a little bit, I guess they could get a star. The potential is there.
