R	Raubal Friedrich on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Schloss Limberg war einst ein Schloss des Adelsgeschlechtes der Metnitzer. Diese erhielten es als Lehen der Habsburger. Das denkmalgeschützte Schloss Limberg wurde im 13. Jhd erstmals urkundlich erwähnt, war eine an der Koralpe gelegene Anlage zur Sicherung des Überganges nach Kärnten und liegt in der Gemeinde Wies. Der Wehrbau wurde im 16. Jhd im Renaissancestil umgebaut und kam an die Grafen von Saurau. Es war im 18. Jhd verfallen und wurde wiederhergestellt und an die Fürsten von und zu Liechtenstein verkauft. 1933 übernahm das Steirische Jugendhilfswerk das Schloss und betrieb ein Ferienheim. Im II. Weltkrieg fanden nationalsozialistische Veranstaltungen in ihm statt. Nach der Plünderung von Titopartisanen kam es wieder an das Steirische Jugendhilfswerk und die Pfadfinder als Erholungsheim. Das Schloss Limberg und seine Anlage wurden 1960 renoviert und 1977 unter Denkmalschutz gestellt. In den Jugoskawienkruegen 1992/93 diente es als Flüchtlingsauffanglager. Limberg Castle was once a castle of the noble family of the Metnitzer. They received it as a fief of the Habsburgs. The listed Limberg Castle was first mentioned in the 13th century, was a facility on the Koralpe to secure the transition to Carinthia and is located in the municipality of Wies. The weir was rebuilt in the Renaissance style in the 16th century and came to the Counts of Saurau. It fell into disrepair in the 18th century and was restored and sold to the princes of and to Liechtenstein. In 1933 the Styrian youth welfare organization took over the castle and ran a holiday home. During the Second World War, National Socialist events took place in it. After the looting of titopartisans it came again to the Styrian youth welfare organization and the scouts as a rest home. Limberg Castle and its grounds were renovated in 1960 and listed in 1977. In the 1992/93 Yugoslavia it served as a refugee camp.
