★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Auf steilen Fels etwas abseits des Steyr-Flusses befinden sich die spärlichen Überreste der ehemaligen Burg Leonstein welche erstmals 1140 urkundlich erwähnt wurde.
1390 nach einer dreimonatigen Belagerung und dem erstmaligen Einsatz von Feuergeschützen in Österreich, fiel die Burg und wurde in der Folge zerstört.
Die äußerst dürftigen noch vorhandenen Reste der ehemaligen Veste bedürfen vom Besucher eine Portion an Phantasie um sich eine ehemalige Wehranlage vorzustellen.
Die wunderbare Landschaft ist jedoch umso beeindruckender.
On steep rock a little away from the Steyr River are the sparse remains of the former castle Leonstein which was first mentioned in 1140 in a document.
In 1390, after a three-month siege and the first use of fire-fighters in Austria, the castle fell and was subsequently destroyed.
The extremely poor remains of the former Veste require the visitor a dose of imagination to imagine a former fortification.
The wonderful landscape is all the more impressive.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Die Ruinen liegen auf einem Fels, der Zugang ist ziemlich steil und schwierig. Sichere Schuhen sind erforderlich.
The ruins are on top of a rock, the access is quite steep and difficult. Safe shoes are required.
