We had 7 or 8 course menu and it was tasty and i recommend this place. However it was way too loud due to the bad isolation between the rooms. It was interesting to watch how the soup was prepared.

This place is in a classy residential area One of finest dining experiences of my life. The young lady at the restaurant spoke at least 5 languages which was very helpful to the multi ethnic patrons including ourselves. This was not like the other mundane sushi roll, nigiri etc experience. Every course had its own cornucopia of flavors. Even the the rice was a class of its own. Cozy place and a friendly environment. Will recommend very strongly.

A friend of mine and me went to this place because of its good reviews and because we’ve been to Japan several times and we love Japanese Cuisine. So we chose the five course menu. Overall the food was good, but we were really disappointed from several little things. For instance the Sashimi was not freshly sliced. It was obvious that the whole plate was prepared and chilled in a fridge. The Wasabi Paste was already dried and the lemon slices were dried too. Furthermore the tempura was not perfectly crispy and the vegetables inside not done. While the food was good there was no match to the fairly high price and average service. Try the Sake taste set, it was really good with a nice explanation of what you’ll get to drink.

Very nice restaurant with Authentic Japanese food. We enjoyed the Autumn Kaiseki Course Menu. Every dish was delicious!! It’s quite difficult to find good Japanese food in Vienna so I’m really happy that I found this place. Looking forward to trying the other things on the menu.

Their service is excellent and the atmosphere of the restaurant is calm, clean and refined. However, it suffers from what most Japanese restaurants in Europe suffer …… lack of properly trained sushi chef…..I was hugely disappointed with the quality of their food in general, not only their sushi was terrible, all dishes were amateurish and not worth the price tag. Given the situation after the lockdown and difficulty in obtaining proper supply and staff, I want to be kind and perhaps my expectations were too high but simply the food wasn’t good enough. Such a shame.

Sakai was a wonderful discovery. We were lucky enough to find a table without reservations, yet we knew right away why this restaurant has a great reputation. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff is fantastic, really knowledgeable. We started with the Tuna Tartar (pictured), which was great but not amazing. The presentation was lacking finesse and flavors were not in balance (a bit on the spicier side). Then we had the sushi roll which were “only” five pieces but bigger than your usual sushi as well as great in terms of taste. The rice was good, the produce was super fresh and with nice layers of flavor. Then we had a mix of tempura (also pictured), which blew our mind. It was crisp, light, airy, with lots of finesse and the shrimps and veggie were great. The sauce as well. Applause! Their wine offering could be expanded, yet the underrated star to accompany your dishes is named Sake. They have an array of high quality sake that make this Japanese stand out from the rest. Really recommended. Thank you Sakai!
