Instead of using the computer in front of them to answer your question, they unblinkingly make up something unplausable which any regular train user will recongnise as utter nonsense. So yeah, definitely don't waste your time or money here - the staff on-board the trains are far more competent and willing to help. Tickets are cheaper from the app or ticket machine directly outside.
