In the Corona times we had a great vacation. All rules were followed and it was still pleasant for the guests. We have been there for the second time and have been very satisfied again. Very animal friendly! Great and clean rooms. The pension owners are super warm and friendly! best regards

I recently stayed at Salzburgerhof in Rauris with my family. This price was great and the surroundings are incredibly beautiful, but the service/atmosphere at the guesthouse left a lot to be desired. The place is run by a daughter and her parents. The father seemed to be in a good mood, the daughter and mother generally acted like they'd rather be anywhere else than there serving us. They pasted smiles on their faces but it was pretty clear they felt like they weren't charging enough - we made the mistake of sitting at the bar and ended up listening to them complain about money most of the evening. We had a full pension deal (all meals included). The food was OK - ranging from not very good to average. It was alright for a day or two but after a few days of yesterdays boiled potatoes becoming today's potato salad and today's mushroom soup and semmelknodel becoming tomorrow's semmelknodel with mushroom sauce, it wore pretty thin. For lunch we were allowed to make sandwiches - I pluralize sandwiches because we were a family of four - don't even think about making more than one sandwich each (signs all over to that effect). The room was clean, but the bathroom lid kept falling on our backs while using the toilet. A small thing, but annoying. The pillows were old and worn out (nothing like those in the picture above); when I asked the daughter for another I was told they didn't have any more. The next day I asked the woman cleaning the room (not because I didn't trust the daughter but because I saw that they then had vacancies, while the day before they were fulling booked, so I thought this might be the reason) and she brought one extra pillow later. This was typical (the daughter telling me No to my request) as it seems that's their standard answer to all requests: coming from very far away and want them to save a little cold food for dinner (dinner ends at 7:30pm when all meals included)? Forget it. Have to leave early to catch a flight and want some coffee before you go? No chance. It seems that they don't realize that the word "accommodations" stems from the word "accommodate". We met a nice family from Holland there who were also amazed at the lack of willingness to adapt or adjust their strict rules. Also quite annoying - they advertise that they have a sauna. Well, this is technically true; just don't hope to use it. They only open it on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays for two hours each day, between 5pm - 7pm. But they serve their all meals included dinner between 6pm-7:30pm. Get the feeling they don't really want people to use the sauna? So did I. Generally people are out hiking/sight-seeing until almost dinner time, so the times they chose to open their sauna are pretty much useless. Want them to open it another time? Good luck. They also offer free wi-fi, but the reception was lousy. The icing on the cake was that upon leaving we find that they charged 10 euro extra because my little boy wet the bed. My wife stripped the bed, asked for new sheets and remade the bed herself. Yeah, it sucks that this happened, but as anyone with little kids knows, it's not poison. The daughter gives me a whole story about how the sheet had to be separately washed with special washing detergent. Really? We use normal detergent, but whatever. I’d never been to a hotel before where getting another set of sheets was a problem. If they need to make more, they should charge more, not advertise things they don't want to make available and overcharge for any little thing they can. I wouldn't be surprised if they daughter adds comments here to try to justify my complaints, as the whole time she was overflowing with justifications. All I can say is, if you go, know what to expect. It's so beautiful in the Austrian Alps, we'll probably go back to Rauris, but when we do we'll pay a little more and stay somewhere else where the atmosphere and accommodations are better.

Our hotel room was outdated, but I can live with that, let's call it authentic. The bathroom however was very small and not 100% clean (fungus around the shower). I can't even remember the last time I saw a hotel shower without thermostatic tabs. The positive thing was the view over the mountains you had from the little private terrace. There is free WiFi access in the hotel. However half of the time it doesn't work and you have to go to the reception to ask them to reboot the whole thing. When it works, it goes very, very slow. The hotel smells half of the day to fried unions or other food. A decent hood would be a great investment for their kitchen. Talking about food, we had the all in formula. The breakfast is okay although every day the same. The supper has low standards. It's the same food as like you prepare at home, if you're not that big a cook yourself and definitely no restaurant or decent hotel quality. My conclusion, the hotel is perfect for older German speaking guests with a retirement home mentality. Otherwise look for another hotel in this beautiful region.

Good food, friendly service, great location. Clean and comfortable. Great for exploring the Kirchdorf area. Plenty to do and see in the area. Stayed for 7 nights half board and had a different meal from the region each night. Great value for money.

The host and hostess are only friendly when it accomodates their strict planning. Any flexibility you would expect from someone running a hotel is not at all there. They are not welcoming of you when you arrive and will make a point out of every trivial thing. Early check-in is not an option, late check-in is not an option, and the list of complaints goes on. Breakfast is okay-ish, I have definitely seen way better in their sector. The rooms were tidy and cleaned well, that is why they deserve two stars. If you can find any other equal option in the area, choose that.
