★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hoe beoordeel je een standbeeld? Dit grote bronzen beeld op een stevige marmeren sokkel van keizerin Maria Theresia is gemaakt door Franz Pönninger, en onthuld in 1873. Ik kom zo'n beetje onder haar voeten uit het trappenhuis van de ondergrondse garage, en Maria is de eerste ervaring met de stad! En ja, het is waar wat ze van eerste ervaringen zeggen: ze blijven lang hangen. En zeker bij dit prachtige weer met een uitbundig zonnetje…… Gelukkig staan er veel koffietenten rond het plein, zodat ik nog even van dit beeld kan genieten. En van de koffie natuurlijk!
How do you rate a statue? This large bronze statue on a sturdy marble plinth of Empress Maria Theresia was created by Franz Pönninger, and unveiled in 1873. I come out of the stairwell of the underground garage just about under her feet, and Maria is the first experience of the city ! And yes, it is true what they say about first experiences: they linger for a long time. And certainly in this beautiful weather with an exuberant sun …… Fortunately there are many coffee places around the square, so that I can still enjoy this image. And the coffee of course!
