Jetzt hat er seine endgültige Position gefunden und bietet einen schönen Ausblick auf die Donauinsel. The lighthouse is a relic of the Bregenz Festival and afterwards stood in front of the Technical Museum in Vienna for a long time. Now it has found its final position and offers a beautiful view of the Danube Island.

M	Michael Schmied on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Dieser Leuchtturm steht mitten auf der Donauinsel, er ist nicht mehr in Betrieb aber trägt trotzdem für eine schöne Skyline bei. Abgesehen von den vielen Lokalen und den weiteren Möglichkeiten (Trettbootfahren, Fahrradfahren,...) kann man hier den Sommer in aller Ruhe genießen. Gleich von der Ubahnstation aussteigen und man ist für weitere Aktivitäten total flexibel. This lighthouse is in the middle of the Danube Island, it is no longer in operation but still contributes to a beautiful skyline. Apart from the many restaurants and other options (paddle boating, cycling, ...) you can enjoy the summer here in peace. Get off the subway station immediately and you are totally flexible for other activities.
P	Peter InWien on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Der Leuchtturm war Teil der KulisseWelt-Icon der Bregenzer Festspielbühne in den Saisonen 1989 und 1990. Er war Teil des Szenenbildes des „Der fliegende Holländer“ von Richard Wagner unter der Regie von David Pountney. Während der Opernaufführungen stürzte sich Senta, eine Figur der Oper, vom Leuchtturm in den Bodensee. Nachdem ab dem Jahr 1991 eine andere Oper auf der Bühne in Bregenz gezeigt wurde, wurde das Bühnenbild abgebaut, so auch der Leuchtturm. Der Leuchtturm wurde zerlegt und nach Wien transportiert, wo er 1991 anlässlich der Ausstellung „Phantasie und Industrie“ vor dem Technischen Museum WienWelt-Icon wieder aufgebaut wurde. Anlässlich des Umbaus wurde auch der Leuchtturm 1997 abermals zerlegt und an seinen heutigen Standort auf die Donauinsel gebracht. Seither übernahm er unterschiedliche Aufgaben als Werbefläche, Sendeanlage für Netzbetreiber oder Träger einer Wetter- und Stadtkamera. The lighthouse was part of the KulisseWelt-Icon of the Bregenz Festival stage in the seasons 1989 and 1990. It was part of the production design for “The Flying Dutchman” by Richard Wagner, directed by David Pountney. During the opera performances, Senta, a character from the opera, threw herself from the lighthouse into Lake Constance. After another opera was shown on the stage in Bregenz from 1991, the set was dismantled, including the lighthouse. The lighthouse was dismantled and transported to Vienna, where it was rebuilt in 1991 for the exhibition “Fantasy and Industry” in front of the Technisches Museum WienWelt-Icon. On the occasion of the renovation, the lighthouse was dismantled again in 1997 and moved to its current location on the Danube Island. Since then he has taken on various tasks as advertising space, transmission system for network operators or carrier of a weather and city camera.
