The Danube Island is a 21 km long and up to 250 meters wide artificial island on the Danube.
It was built in the 70s and 80s actually for flood protection and is now the most popular recreational area in the city.
On the Danube Island you can hike, bike, skate or just escape the hustle and bustle of the city at a picnic.
Especially with children, the Danube Island is the perfect place. There is a bathing beach, a climbing park, a huge water playground, the largest trampoline facility in the world and boat rentals. Culinary pubs and restaurants like on vacation. Quite nice at night with spanish sounds and good cocktails or sishas.
