Great real Japanese food! Tiny place in Naschmarkt. The food is great and the selection large (no vegan, i'm afraid). The prices are not cheap but quality is top. Finally, the place is VERY small and takes no reservations, so be ready to wait... or order to take away. I made a pic of the menu. Enjoy!!

I have been their regular customer for many years, and the high quality still remains the same. Owned and operated by Japanese family from Kyoto, their home-cooked dishes are totally delicious and authentically Japanese; Unlike other Japanese/Asian restaurants in Vienna where the food is westernised to suit local/Austrian taste. Kuishimbo is very small but cosy. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. You cannot reserve so you must wait for a seat. But the excellent food is worth the wait. There is a 2nd larger Kuishimbo now (opened June 2018 & run by the son) at Esterhazygasse 12, 6th District.

Authentic Japanese food meets Vienna. One of the best Japanese places to dine in!

Reasonably priced, family run authentic Japanese restaurant. They have limited menu to control quality, I’ve only tried their lunch menu but I’m assuming quality of others will be similar. Not amazing but good enough for Japanese (or non Japanese) to have something similar to what they have at home

One of the best authentic Japanese place in the area. There is only ten seats available. The owners are very friendly. It's quite expensive but what isn't in Vienna?

Nice little Japanese place where you can find good authentic Japanese food. The drawbacks are that it can only seat 8 and that you can pay cash only. Preparation takes about 20 minutes, but all is hot. This is the only place I found when I was looking to eat something other than soups and sushi / sashimi. I ordered a beef okonomy yaki, but because of the preparation time, ordered some takoyaki also. Employees are really nice and try to help. They also don’t look funny at you if you ask for a knife and fork (they actually have a large collection). The restaurant is easy to find and has access to public transport, especially by underground metro, being in the Naschmarket. All in all, if I find an empty seat, I’ll take it.

Went there for the first time today (as it is open only until 5pm) and was not disappointed. Great and friendly staff that greet and say goodbye to you all together. Food was excellent, I had the Beef Udon: silky noodles, hearty broth and tender meet, simply amazing. The food does not arrive immediately, but takes a bit of time as it is prepared from scratch (soup comes boiling hot, so watch out). Definitively worth the short wait, which you can use to look around in the tiny shop, that looks exactly how I would imagine a Japanese Udon place to look like. 5 stars without any doubt, I will be back.
