Krahuletz-Museum

Das Museum bietet einen Einblick in die Geologie, Frühgeschichte und Volkskunde der Region und in die Geschichte der Erforschung derselben. Das Museum bildet die Leistung des engagierten, autodidaktischen Sammlers und Forschers Johann Krahuletz ab. Die Integration von themenfremden Sammlungen (z.B. Uhren) erweitert das Angebot.

Überraschend umfangreiche, absolut sehenswerte Sammlungen zu Geologie, Paläontologie, Archäologie und Entwicklung des Menschen, mitten in Eggenburg. Schwerpunkt Geologie: Niederösterreich incl. Urmeer. Mineralien, Fossilien und Artefakte aus Steinzeit bis zur Moderne (Stein, Metall, Glas, Keramik, ...). Wunderschöne Exponate, im Gebäude über mehrere Stockwerke gegliedert. Einige interaktive Stationen, für Kinder gibt es einen Stempelpass. Im obersten Stockwerk wechselnde Sonderausstellungen, aktuell: Heilige hinter / unter Glas. Audioguides an der Kassa erhältlich. Ausstellung ist barrierefrei zugänglich, Lift.

Sehr interessante Ausstellungen. Viele Information über das Eggenburger Meer und seine Mineralien als übriggebliebene Zeugen. Das Museum verteilt sich auf 3 Stockwerke mit unterschiedlichen Schwerpunkten. Zu sehen sind Mineralien, Uhren, Ausstellungen über die Steinzeit und für Menschheitsgeschichte, ... Spannend gestaltet, mit vielen Exponaten!

Tolles Museum. Total viele interessante Informationen über Gesteinsarten, die menschliche Geschichte...ein Besuch lohnt sich auf jeden Fall

Exceptional display of gems and fossils

At the end of the 1890s, Johann Krahuletz briefly considered selling his extensive scientific collection, because foreign prospective buyers offered him considerable sums of money. Eggenburg citizens, including the mayor, the head of the Eggenburger Sparkasse, the notary, the city doctor and the school principal, founded in November 1900 with other interested parties such as the district captain of Horn, the Krahuletz - society . Their goal was to preserve the collections for Eggenburg. At the same time, the city had committed to Johann Krahuletz, in addition to a life annuity for him to build a museum - the city was the owner of the collections of Krahuletz. Since the financial position of the city did not allow a museum, the newly founded club took over this obligation. For example, the Krahuletz Society built the Krahuletz Museum , which opened on October 12, 1902. As early as 1904, Emperor Franz Joseph I visited the museum and was guided through the exhibition by Krahuletz. This visit was arranged by the governor of Lower Austria, Erich Graf Kielmansegg, who had also become the "protector" of the association. In deliberate emphasis on continuity, the association calls itself today "Krahuletz - society". It still manages the collections of Krahuletz, but has significantly increased its stocks; the research activity is just as central a task. Since 1999, the staff of the museum is employed by the association, until then there were community employees. The Krahuletz Museum has close scientific contacts with the University of Vienna, in particular with the Institute of Paleontology and the Institute of Prehistoric Archeology, the Austrian Academy of Sciences and the University of Applied Arts, in particular on conservation issues. It is a competence center in the sense of the museum concept of the province of Lower Austria and makes its contents and museological knowledge available to other museums.
