A place for reflection and contemplation with a wonderful baroque interior. Behind the altar you can fill the supposedly healing water from the spring where the church was built yourself in empty containers you brought with you. And after or before a donut to the church host.

Beautiful pilgrimage church with a holy spring, which ripples quietly behind the statue of grace in the dress of our lady. There is also a votive chapel inside. The sanctuary is looked after by passionists.

Upea kirkko, jonka yhteydessä on luostari. Luostariin pääsee kiertämään rukousaikojen ulkopuolella. Kirkossa on syvän rauhallinen tunnelma. Mystikoiden kuvia upeina maalauksina.
A magnificent church with a monastery. You can visit the monastery outside prayer times. The church has a deeply peaceful atmosphere. Mystics pictures in stunning paintings. Behind the altar there is a source of "holy water" from which you can bring water into small bottles for a fee. The monastery also offers accommodation.

Požiar v roku 1826 zničil zvony a cibuľové kupoly kostola. Zemetrasenie poškodilo kostol a budovu fary. V roku 1840 dal princ Alois von Liechtenstein obnoviť pútnicke miesto . V roku 1925 založili passionisti kláštor (Kloster Maria Schutz) , jediný z rádu v Rakúsku a prevzali pútnický kostol.
The village of Maria Schutz is the largest pilgrimage site in southern Lower Austria, at the foot of the Sonnwendstein hill at 1523 m above sea level. This pilgrimage site has been dedicated to the Virgin Mary, the guardian, since the eighteenth century, when a mortally ill girl who drank from a local sacred spring miraculously recovered, followed by a series of inexplicable healings that the villagers attribute to their patron saint. According to legend, they were built by healthy people from the nearby village of Schottwien, thanks to the fact that they were cured of the plague. The first chapel was built in 1721 and was named after Franciscan Benignus Seyfried of Mürzzuschlag, who, according to legend, admired the location of the chapel, until he fell asleep under the birch. When he woke up, he allegedly called for the consecration of the place where the chapel was built to be consecrated to the Virgin Mary the Protector / German MARIA SCHUTZ / Reconstruction of the pilgrimage church took place in 1728. The foundation stone was laid by Prince Joseph Julius von Wallsegg. In 1783 it was rebuilt on the parish church on the instructions of Joseph II. A fire in 1826 destroyed the bells and onion domes of the church. The earthquake damaged the church and the rectory building. In 1840, Prince Alois von Liechtenstein had the pilgrimage site restored. In 1925, the Passionists founded a monastery (Kloster Maria Schutz), the only order in Austria, and took over the pilgrimage church. On the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the church, it was completely renovated in 1970 and the onion domes were completed in 1995.

,, .. There is a charming paradise on the Semmering, mossy castle ruins, and at the bottom of the Sonnwendstein, an ancient cluster, almost dreaming at the base of eternally snowy mountain giants: this is Maria Schutz. Mountain coir grayish in the cracks of the rocks and violet scented the bottom of the pine forests. In the sparkling waterfalls of swift waterfalls, trout chase each other, and on the gentle slopes of the mountain we delight in the agile squirrels playing on the trees. .. ”1929

Maria Schutz is the largest pilgrimage site dedicated to the Virgin Mary in Lower Austria. Maria Schutz is situated at an elevation of 750 m on the northern slope of the Sonnwendstein mountain (1,523 m) and belongs to the municipality of Schottwien. The church was built in 1728–1738 in Baroque style in place of the initial chapel of 1721-22. The miracle -working/healing spring, origin of the pilgrimages, was included in the church and is located behind the high altar. In 1826 a fire damaged the roofs of the church and its towers. The onion roofs of the church towers were then replaced by simple pyramid-shaped roofs, as depicted on the glasses. The roofs were restored to their original Baroque shapes in 1995. Maria Schutz became a parish in 1783. Since 1925, the Passionist order is in charge of the church. Maria Schutz is the only Passionist monastery in Austria. Don't forget to treat yourself with Krapfen – a traditional Austrian doughnut-like specialty filled with apricot jam a specialty of the restaurants and cafes next to the church.
