★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 711 nach Christus, als die Bajuwaren die frühchristliche Verehrungsstätte des hl. Maximilian bei einer römischen Siedlung entdeckten, erfolgte die erste Klostergründung des Hl. Bischofs Rupert auf Salzburger Boden. Im Laufe der Jahrhunderte war das Kloster (heute Kastenhof) Augustiner Chorherrenstift, Sitz der Bischöfe von Chiemsee im Hoch- und Spätmittelalter und bedeutende Kultstätte der Verehrung des Hl. Maximilian bis zur Säkularisierung der Erzdiözese.
 711 AD, when the Bavarians were the early Christian place of worship of St. Maximilian discovered in a Roman settlement, the first monastery was founded by St. Bishop Rupert on Salzburg soil. Over the centuries the monastery (today Kastenhof) was the Augustinian canons' monastery, seat of the bishops of Chiemsee in the high and late Middle Ages and an important place of worship for the veneration of St. Maximilian until the archdiocese was secularized.
