In the last part the ascent is quite steep. But the view is very rewarding. Especially when the weather is nice.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Kaisersäule stands at 1701 meters above sea level over Thaur. It was erected to commemorate the visit of the Austrian monarch, Emperor Franz I that visited Hall in Tirol in October 1815.
During his visit he went to the Karwendelgebirge and reached the promising hill above the Inn Valley on a mountain hike. In honor of him was set up this pyramid of the hight of approximately 14.4 meters.
The Emperor was then taken to this viewpoint from which he could see the scenes of the Tyrolean freedom struggle of 1809. Just one year before the Congress of Vienna put up a new establishment after the end of the Napoleonic Wars. As said part of these wars took place in Tyrol and from this point of view a good guide could easily give a detailed description of the battles.
