The way up here is worth it! You will be rewarded a beautiful little chapel and a great view! However not suitable for handicapped people ...

Austrian exotic population, next to the lake, with its hermitage on top of a mound, below views of boats, rocks and mountains surrounding the lake. It is a very quiet place and of extraordinary beauty. Highly recommended!

Beautiful chapel with bell tower, in a dominant position on Lake Traunsee. It is in the village of Traunkirchen and can be reached from the public pay car park, near the main road, with a short but steep uphill path. It was probably originally a pagan place of worship (it was called Odinstein, "the rock of Odin" ...). The location is splendid, the view of the lake fabulous. At its feet there is a beautiful grassy beach (public) on a point that juts out into the lake (reachable from the aforementioned car park).

Guidebooks? all rave about Hallstat - an idyllic little town approximately 40-minute drive from Traunkirchen??. Unfortunately, with the scenic location comes the usual downside: hordes of tourist?‍?‍?‍?aimlessly wandering the narrow streets with their smart phones?. Traunkirchen certainly wins out on the quiet beauty?. Traunsee really met with our approval during our short stay at Landhotel Post.?
