Die Akkustik des Raumes ist allerdings eine (machbare) Herausforderung für die Musiker und Sprecher. Wonderful location that I got to know as part of the St. Pölten Baroque Festival. The acoustics of the room are, however, a (feasible) challenge for the musicians and speakers.

The Institute for Jewish History in Austria was founded in 1988 and is housed in St. Pölten in the former synagogue. Its mission is the comprehensive study of the history and culture of Jews in Austria from the Middle Ages to the present.

D	Der Vorleser on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This former Synagogue was built at the beginning of the 20th century, destroyed by the Nazis, and the town's Jews driven into exile or murdered. After Kristallnacht ist fell into disrepair. A few years ago, after painstaking renovation by the provincial government of Lower Austria the building was rededicated as a culture venue. It is beautiful and certainly worth a visit, if you are in town. There is of course no Jewish community in St. Pölten today.
