Hotel & Restaurant Waldschloss - Gattern 1

This area is in the German / Austrian Border and it's not far from where I live ! It's a nice place to visit specially in Summer ! Lots of children activities too ! Food are delicious and prices are affordable ! I'm coming back in this place again in Summer ... See you !

Great accommodation, cozy restaurant, good breakfast.

The food was ok, but there are better places to eat around and in Passau. Price-wise, it was great.

Nice hotel, right on the border of Germany and Austria, some say its in Passau, others disagree... Anyhow, rooms are quite large, clean, bed ? was a bit used and would need a mattress change, bathrooms could use better air conditioning system. Staff is friendly and can efficiently use English language, breakfast were fine, but lacked a nice suprice, like delicious ? or some nice cup of Joe. It's a good hotel, although not exceptional.

The hotel service is very good, the equipment is very new, and it feels safer than the other hotels in this time. The room is large, comfortable, and the location is good. It's not too far away if you drive.

The 3-bed-room was really spacious with a very large desk, very good beds, and a gigantic flat screen TV but sadly still not very comfortable - it had a single chair and zero sofas or armchairs; it also only had towel racks for 2. We enjoyed the very nice breakfast - it included cappuccino and soft boiled eggs, and the service was very nice. The room was clean but there were small lapses - the mini bar had not been serviced (and wasn't serviced for our entire 2-day stay even though i had notified reception within 30 minutes of check-in) and both shower gel and internet password were provided only upon request. This is no tragedy but given that this is a 4-star property with a quite high price, we had expected more - we felt more like in a 3-star hotel that would have cost a third less. We very much hope that management will address these lapses as this could be a gorgeous property - the building is beautifully appointed and renovated, and it has a wonderful beer garden location adjacent to the restaurant. We didn't dare to try the restaurant because it wasn't listed anywhere and we hence couldn't see any reviews; management probably would do itself a favour by listing the restaurant separately as a dining venue! Temporary notice for summer 2019: There is construction work Monday through Friday during daytime working hours that requires a detour when approaching the hotel from Passau but during evenings, weekends and holidays the direct road is open for residents which includes guests of the hotel or restaurant.
