★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have been visiting Maurach now for three years sometime’s twice per year
My stay at the Huber Hockland hotel was perfect .
Great food, terrific staff, spotlessly clean rooms, and the most wonderful areas to wander and explore
I’m truly thankful to the Huber family for my wonderful holidays in Austria .

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I would be cautious reading most of these reviews as 5 stars across the board is a bit unbelievable for anything, including this hotel. Below are my thoughts from my 4-night stay:
The good:
- Dinner. There is a buffet salad bar and then a 3-course meal that was usually quite high quality and expertly cooked (except dessert). This was quite impressive given how many people they had to cook for each night.
The bad:
-Location. It's not really right next to anything besides the gondola which is about 5 minutes. The walk to the lake is about 20 minutes. It is next to a somewhat busy road which made it impossible to have the window open at night.
-The room. Granted we did stay in an older rooms, not one of the renovated ones, so I cannot comment on those. However our room was beyond basic; no kettle, no iron, no fridge/bottled water/glasses. Housekeeping was decent but the floor and vent in the bathroom were dirty. Based off of the room we stayed in, we questioned their 3-stars.
-Breakfast. The breakfast was identical every morning so if you are staying multiple nights prepare to get bored quickly. The warm/cooked food consisted only of fried, boiled, and scrambled eggs, and bacon. Making an effort to actually cook more (e.g. omelettes, pancakes, crepes, baked tomato and cheese, etc) as opposed to relying on prepared foods (processed meats, cheese, frozen breads, muesli and yogurt) and changing options from day to day would make a huge difference.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Breath taking view from the hotel, love the scenic view. We were welcomed by the staff at the check in counter and there were sanitiser dispenser at the entrance to maintain a clean and safe area.
We arrived in our room which was a bit dark, as we had the back side room facing the woods and we eventually settled down as the hotel was fully booked.
The dining area was nice with a good ambience, the staff were sympathetic and looked after us and their service was a 10/10. They were extremely busy but yet they did an amazing job by checking on all the customers, they worked in coordination and people did not have to wait for long for their next meal after their plates are cleaded. The buffet area was replenished at intervals and kept clean. Food was really good, from the soup to the dessert everything was on point. The food presentation was great and taste wise as well. We really enjoyed the hotel and the attractions around , shopping area and there is also a convenient store not too far from the hotel. Would definitely love to come back ❤

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Overall:
+ VEGAN half board was provided (appreciated an effort very much)
+ a lovely spa area and a swimming pool
+ a dog friendly hotel
+ a comfortable restaurant
+ next to a cross country skiing track
+ a warm rack for ski boots
+ a kettle was provided at a hotel room (on request)
Vegan breakfast:
+ grilled vegetable with tofu for breakfast + fresh vegetable (on request)
+ vegan milk and yogurt for a breakfast (on request)
Vegan dinner:
+ every dish looks amazing and very freshly
+ using fresh ingredients
+ using coconut milk for cooking
+ using delicious silken tofu (I did not expect it)
Overall:
- no English menu in a restaurant, no english informative book in a hotel room, no english informative board, no English leaflets (it seems like only German speaking guests are welcome)
- hotel staff do not speak English almost at all (even an issue to order dinner and beverages)
- no bin near a hotel for cleaning up dog feces (a dog friendly hotel)
- no bell at the reception desk (quite often without anyone to assist)
- a bathrobe is paid
- no bananas for the whole week
Vegan breakfast:
- not explained how vegan breakfast works at all (staff was disorganised and not informed properly how to handle the situation)
- vegan spreads in a buffet were in the same bowl with dairy and meat spreads (nobody informed me and I found out after four days of my stay
- no vegan sweet pastry
- the whole range of pastry without vegan tag at all (you just nervously guess)
- no option to have scrambled vegan ,,tofu,, eggs (should be a standard to offer it when other guests have eggs and bacon available)
Vegan dinner:
- no vegan menu on the table (other guests always have it written in a daily menu), staff even did not say what is going to be served (almost always a surprise)
- not many types of protein sources (just tofu almost every evening or mushrooms rarely)
- missing protein sources (legumes - lentils, beans, chickpeas, corn, peas, seitan, tempeh, buckwheat etc.)
- a starter was almost every time smaller and poorer than have guests with a normal half board, always missing some main ingredient which was not replaced with a vegan version
- a dessert was just a sorbet for the first three evenings (it was really unbelievably rude), other guests have amazing desserts
- a starter - sometimes a soup (3 times a week the same soup) other guests never have the same soup
- desserts were much better and delicious at the second half of a week (I did not understand it at all)
