Very friendly staff, nice view on the mountains. Food was traditional but portions were satisfying. Its only a pity that there was no lightning outside.

scammers and unethical- cheated our deposit Put down a deposit for a room for our wedding and basically ignored all our emails and calls (how do you even expect to host a wedding with this service level?) Eventually we picked another spot (So glad we did) and lost our deposit Hope the 300 euro is worth burning bridges and cover for a lousy review

Loved this historic hotel: Unbeatable location, Restaurant with Excellent Cuisine, Super clean rooms (even though bathrooms are a little on the small side), extraordinary treatment by management and employees. Booked 4 rooms with huge terrace for the whole family to spend New Years Eve, and was not disappointed. Everybody wants to come back to this fairytale hotel. If I could give it more than 5 points, I would.

The hotel restaurant could be highly recommended because of fresh food from the region. Soups are excellent and especially dumpling or vegetable soups are recommended. The restaurant has changing offers according to the season and there is a variety of meat, fish and vegetarian options. Food is prepared with great care and service is always polite and kind. View from the restaurant in summer is particularly impressive.

Only visited the restaurant. Amazeballs view and nice cold beer. But superslow service while sitting on a wooden bench waiting for mediocre, dry schnitzel, semi-boiled potatoes and store-bought lingonsylt (jam) which I could make better myself at home, isn't helping this place. Shame.

Well, I did not get to stay at this hotel although we had a reservation. So, that is all the reason I have to give a one star rating. Just to elaborate on the situation: we were driving back from southern Austria to North Germany and wanted to have a break at HOTEL Grünwalderhof. We did make the reservation but we estimated that we couldn’t reach the hotel on time before the regular check-in times. So, we made a call early afternoon to see if we could have a late check-in. This was accepted and our reservation was noted down by the staff as well. When we arrived at the hotel at around midnight, we were told to go away through the INTERCOM (why have an intercom and late check-in systems when you don’t allow late check-ins??). I didn’t mind the “go away” part as much as the timing at which they asked us to “go away”. Dear Hotel administrators, please let your guests clearly know if they can have a late check in. At the least, ask your guests to find an alternative if you’re not able to let them stay at your hotel. Don’t make them drive 600+ kilometers overnight. Your hotel doesn’t serve the purpose of “HOTEL” at this point.

We had reserved a room here for one night. Unfortunately we didnt even get to check in. As we wanted to check-in quite late at night we called and the lady who answered said we could come anytime after 10PM and ring the doorbell. The keys would be left in a cupboard. When we reached around 1130PM and rang the bell the owner said its too late to checkin. We were left stranded for the night and had to drive all the way back to Germany.
