★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Like else’s review exactly an episode from the Gordon Ramsay’s Hotel hell series. Overpriced experience Not worth the money. Only positive is a friendly personnel. Food is cheap rubbish. For breakfast they offer the cheapest yogurts from the next door store. Vegetables from breakfast is on grill next meal. Overpriced drinks. The dust and hairs everywhere. Spots on the blankets, carpets in the hall, on the curtains. Lousy spa. Thi is not what you expect from 4stars.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I stayed at the hotel with my partner and our dog last autumn for a few nights in celebration of my birthday. It wasn't the best experience due to many reasons.
To begin with, there was construction right outside the window starting at 7 AM. We reported this to the reception, but they brushed it off with "we can't do anything about that". They didn't really care so they didn't offer anything, not even an apology and wouldn't give us another room on the other side.
We stayed in a period of time where restrictions due to the pandemic were more relaxed, but still I was shocked at the state of the room upon checking in. There were mysterious stains on the decorative pillows as well as on the curtains, one of the walls looked completely dirty. I found someone else's used socks in the wardrobe, together with quite a lot of dust in the wardrobe, on the light switch... everywhere. We were given a new pillow after we complained but still not the standard I would expect. After this experience, I spent the first 30 minutes disinfecting the room, considering that we were still in the middle of a pandemic.
The spa area is huge and spacious; however, it was a bit shocking that even though there were restrictions because of Covid-19, there was no system in place for managing how many people are in the spa at the same time and absolutely no disinfectant available in the spa area.
It was very hard to get vegan / vegetarian food although we informed the hotel about our dietary preferences when we booked. Most of the staff seemed annoyed by our special wishes. There was no hygiene concept for the buffet either, no masks required, and everyone could go in at the same time. I even witnessed someone sneezing at / on the buffet and it was an awful feeling.
In spite of all negative points, I want to mention that we were impressed with Csaba and Walter's positive attitude and friendliness and they contributed a great deal to our holiday not being a total failure.
Still, I wouldn't book this hotel again as they are definitely overpriced for the quality they offer. I forwarded all these comments in the form provided by the hotel, but there was of course no reaction.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Everything was excellent except the staff at the restaurant. They had very bad attitude towards us for absolutely no reason (maybe because we’re Muslims?). We went to reserve a dinner for one night at the hotel and they insisted on the table in front of the entrance and told us we can’t reserve any other table (very bad placement with no view). Anyway, we agreed to sit since it was fully booked. The staff gave us a German menu and kept ignoring us for wanting an English menu until one of the staff offered to help. However, the next day we went for breakfast at 7:30 am (so early and the restaurant was empty), and they had the audacity to tell us to sit in the same table we sat at dinner because other tables are reserved?? Since when do you reserve a table for breakfast? especially since it’s part of our package! And only after a very long argument they agreed to change the table to another one they selected. There was no “option” for us to choose from. Everything was already chosen and we had to just agree with everything they offered! Overall I’ve never experienced such a service in any other hotel I’ve been to!! Never coming back ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Food was not as expected for 4*, set menus to choose from, beautifull decorated plates but low on tastefull dishes. Breakfast not elaborated, breadrolls not crispy, no toaster available and eggs on the buffet steamed not having any flavour. Overall on rooms, service very pleased but food and beverages not to the Austrian standards you might expect and to receive proper traditional meals.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very happy to stay in this hotel. It is traditional in the best meaning of that term. Everything just works and treats you as a guest. Rooms are large and comfy, cuisine is fair value for the price and wellness is extensive and relaxing. If you prefer modern design features you have better choices elsewhere but if you like quality proven by time you will appreciate Alpenhaus Hotel.
