The beginning of spring with snowfall, still a little green, a few spring flowers. In one month a wonderful hike even for inexperienced people. From Rohrbach walking time about 2 hours. 5 km

I have long been wondering where the westernmost point of Győr-Moson-Sopron County is and what is located there. I thought I'd check it out, find out. But this time, too, a little tracing and some planning preceded the start, after all, tracing such an issue is no small challenge. I guessed it wouldn’t be an easy trip there, and it soon turned out on the way that it turned out to be a good intuition. I used to write that I recommend everyone to visit a destination, but now I still say not. There is no exaggeration in the fact that in many places the roads are actually impassable, in many places it was only possible to drive with detours more or less because of the mud, which is sometimes not an easy task. (24.02.20) Well, but what's in the westernmost part of the county? Well, a table! Exactly "The Table of the Lords (Herrentisch)". But why a table? This has a short history. This head of the table is 551m above sea level. Several tourist routes meet here, it is an important point of reference for those who go there. Unfortunately there is no view, a dense forest surrounds this memorial place. It got its name from the fact that long ago during the border patrol, the lords of the border control committee were transported by horse-drawn carriage in this area. The lords of the four surrounding communities (Sopron, Szikra, Fraknónádasd and Lakompak) rested here. This is where the table was set for them, hence the name Herrentisch. (Source: Gábor Becher's book "Telling the Past".) To my great joy today, in this beautiful early spring time, I also had the opportunity to sit down at this table for a while, evoking the past a bit. Of course, there were also sights along the way, such as the Lookout Tower, the St. Stephen's shaft and its surroundings, and of course Brennberg Mine. The road also starts from here, about 9km long, of course with some detours here and there. It felt good to explore the westernmost point of the county, a peaceful, quiet place. It can be a good trip, but only if the conditions improve, I will only recommend it to advanced ones!
