So nah an Salzburg und so ein schöner Ausblick nach einer netten Wanderung an der Deutsch-Österreichischen Grenze. Aber Vorsicht: Der Weg erfordert Trittsicherheit! We were at the large and small Barmstein and both are an experience! So close to Salzburg and such a beautiful view after a nice hike on the German-Austrian border. But be careful: the path requires sure-footedness!

m	mike o on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Bin von Kaltenhausen zum gr. Bamstoana gewandert. Schön schattig, aber mitunter etwas schlammig, speziell nach Regentagen. An Höhenangst sollte man nicht leiden, einige Stellen sind herausfordernd aber nicht gefährlich. Belohnt wird man oben mit einem wunderbaren Panoramablick. Hiked from Kaltenhausen to the great Bamstoana. Nice and shady, but sometimes a bit muddy, especially after rainy days. You shouldn't suffer from fear of heights, some parts are challenging but not dangerous. You will be rewarded with a wonderful panoramic view at the top.

From the top you can see the mountain ranges from Dachstein, through Tennengebirge, Hoher Göll and Berchtesgden Alps to the awesome south face of Untersberg. The path often leads just next to a huge vertical drop - surefootedness is crucial, especially when it's wet.

I’d say it’s not a very easy hike though, especially at the end when you have to scramble up to the top of the rock, but it’s so worth it! ? The hills are alive with the sound of music, and this place offers you that!
