Die Fallhöhe über drei Stufen entlang der Gasteiner Ache beträgt ca. 340m, die aus Stein erbaute Wasserfallbrücke wurde 1840 errichtet und zuletzt im Jahr 2010 generalsaniert. Im Bild sieht man nur einen Teil des Wasserfalls, oberhalb der Wasserfallbrücke im Ortszentrum. Der Wasserfall bietet ein imposantes Naturschauspiel inmitten des Weltkurortes und die durch die Zerstäubung negativ ionisierte Luft gilt als besonders gesundheitsfördernd. Seit jeher ist der Gasteiner Wasserfall beliebtes Motiv für Postkarten und Urlaubsbilder, aber auch dankbares Motiv vieler bekannter Maler und Künstler. Am Fuße des Wasserfalls befindet sich das 1914 errichtete Kraftwerk, welches 1996 stillgelegt und unter Denkmalschutz gestellt wurde. Das Kraftwerk ist heute ein Kaffeehaus mit kleiner Speisekarte und Event-Location. The waterfall in the town center is the symbol of Bad Gastein and is one of the most famous waterfalls in Austria. The drop over three steps along the Gasteiner Ache is approx. 340m, the stone waterfall bridge was built in 1840 and last renovated in 2010. In the picture you can only see a part of the waterfall, above the waterfall bridge in the town center. The waterfall offers an impressive natural spectacle in the middle of the world health resort and the negatively ionized air caused by the atomization is considered to be particularly health-promoting. The Gastein waterfall has always been a popular motif for postcards and holiday pictures, but also a grateful motif for many well-known painters and artists. At the foot of the waterfall is the power plant built in 1914, which was shut down in 1996 and placed under monument protection. The power plant is now a coffee house with a small menu and event location.
