★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ein Denkmal, das an die Schlacht von Dürrnstein am 11. November 1805 erinnert. Dort wurde in den neapolitanischen Kriegen eine französische Division von Österreichern und Russen besiegt. Das hatte zwar auf den weiteren Verlauf des Krieges keine Auswirkung, doch bescherte es der Gegend immerhin dieses gut in Schuss befindliche Denkmal von 1905. Im Unterbau gibt es ein Ossarium und eine Kapelle (beides nicht zu besichtigen). Man hat dort einen schönen Ausblick über das Donautal von Dürrnstein bis Unterloiben.
A memorial that commemorates the Battle of Dürrnstein on November 11, 1805. There a French division was defeated by Austrians and Russians in the Neapolitan Wars. This had no effect on the further course of the war, but at least it gave the area this well-maintained monument from 1905. In the substructure there is an ossuary and a chapel (neither of which can be visited). There you have a beautiful view over the Danube valley from Dürrnstein to Unterloiben.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A monument to celebrate the Austro-Russian victory over Napolean's forces at the Battle of Durnstein in November 1805. Although not a remarkable monument it is in a beautiful setting. The photographs do not do it justice, taken from a tourist road train on a bumpy road. I will be going back and will see the area at a more leisurely pace.
