The road to the bridge The bridge of freedom can be approached from both sides and in 3 ways. From the Hungarian side, you can reach the emblematic bridge by bike or on foot from Kapuvár after 15 kilometers. I suggest that we extend our journey to at least Andau, that is, another 10 kilometers. Believe me, fellow athletes, it's worth it! Those in a hurry or comfort lover should turn towards Andau at Jánossomorja. Approx. On a 10-kilometer narrow strip of asphalt, our motorized carriage can pound us all the way to the border. Keep in mind that this road is used primarily by tractors. A little pothole, a little muddy. A small home on the Austrian border. Another setback to driving is that you will stop every 100-200 meters! Why? Because up to the border, a row of surprising, astonishing, and shocking sculptures accompanies the path. Most of the statues were made of wood, but thus worn by the iron teeth of time, their effect only intensified. There are bodies that fell to pieces, carved bones carved from grape roots on which the wind plays, a world standing on its head, human body pieces tied to iron wire. I took dozens of photos, shocked by these artistic exclamation marks. I think I walked at least five out of 10 kilometers while my sportsmate Ila Bata was “dusting” his car next to me. We were further slowed down by the fact that Ila also got out to take photos and marvel at some moving works. On both sides of the road there are thousands of flowers, cultivated lands, birds. The once crowded road today has rested on the road of peace and purity. Stone statues mingled here and there among the wooden sculptures. The fleeing family, the man crawling under the barbed wire, further reinforces the soul-killing effect of the wooden statues. Suddenly a huge tree appears, a shelter in its shade, not far from it a watchtower pecking. We arrived at the bridge.
